Professor William Gordon retired from his full time faculty position in the School of Music at Brandon University in December of 2013 after completing forty-four years of service.  He continues his association with the School of Music by teaching horn students on a sessional basis.  Professor Gordon was educated at the Royal College of Music in London, England where he studied horn with Douglas Moore and Alan Civil.  He also studied conducting with Sir Adrian Boult.  Prior to moving to Canada, William Gordon was principal horn of the Ulster Orchestra based in Belfast, Northern Ireland.  William Gordon’s professional experience in Canada has involved performances with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, Regina Symphony Orchestra, and the CBC Winnipeg Orchestra.  William Gordon is presently conductor of the Mennonite Community Orchestra based in Winnipeg;  President of the Association of Manitoba Arts Festivals; and Past President of the Brandon Festival of the Arts.
