Research Projects

Supporting All Learners’ Engagement and Motivation in Multicultural Classroom Context. This research examines how teachers could be supported to design classroom activities based on my Culturally Responsive- Self- Regulated Learning Framework that integrated culturally responsive teaching and self-regulated learning practices. Through researcher-practitioner-partnership, I collaborate with educators in designing learning environments, of their choice, based on this framework and investigate students’ experiences of engagement and motivation in those contexts. I have conducted a few studies investigating teachers’ and students’ experiences of the implementation of this framework in multicultural classroom contexts.

Understanding and Supporting Pre-service Teachers’ Learning Processes and Culturally Responsive Teaching Self-Efficacy. This research tries to understand the experiences of pre-service teachers in their learning (e.g., engagement, motivation) and preparations to teach in a multicultural classroom context. I am particularly interested in the best practices to support their learning, professional development and preparedness to work successfully in culturally diverse settings (BURC, SSHRC Funded Research).

Experiences of Culturally Diverse Students. Based on sociocultural theory, this research focuses on capturing the minority and racialized students’ experiences while learning in Canada. I am particularly interested in how their lived experiences are shaping their learning processes, and how educators could leverage these experiences in designing a culturally inclusive and empowering learning contexts.
