Abstract: The Fitting of Fundamental Stellar Parameters using STELLAR. Model Atmospheres and Spectrum Synthesis, 5th Vienna Workshop,
The program STELLAR uses a four-dimensional grid of SYNTHE synthetic spectra and ATLAS9 continuous energy distributions to perform a simultaneous rms error fit to the observed metallic and hydrogen line spectra as well as the continuous flux distribution of stars. The input files include as variables, Teff, log g, microturbulence, and scaled solar abundance. The present range of these are from Teff = 7500 K to 30000 K in steps of 500 and 1000 K, from log g = 3.00 to 4.50 in steps of 0.25, at microturbulence = 0, 1 and 2 km/s and from [M/H] = -2.0 to +1.0, respectively. STELLAR generates a model of the star with selected free parameters, which can include polar Teff, polar log g, microturbulence, inclination and V sin i. An application of STELLAR will be illustrated in the analysis of Vega.
