Dr. Alison R. Marshall teaches and researches Asian religion, migration and history at Brandon University. Marshall\u00a0studied Mandarin Chinese at Middlebury College, at Taiwan\u2019s Fu Jen University, and also for her doctorate which she earned from University of Toronto\u2019s East Asian Studies Department under the supervision of Dr. Julia Ching (Q\u00edn Ji\u0101y\u00ec \u79e6\u5bb6\u61ff) (1934 \u20132001).<\/p>\n

Dr. Marshall is the recipient of multiple local, national and international grants and awards, and is president of the Canadian Society for the Study of Religion, <\/a>\u00a0former co-chair of the American Academy of Religion\u2019s Religion and Migration Unit, and chairperson of the City of Winnipeg Mayor’s Multi-faith and Cultural Liaison Circle.<\/p>\n

Dr. Marshall is the author of three monographs in the field of Asian religion and history and two anthologies:<\/p>\n

During more than 25 years of research and through multiple national and international SSHRC, CCK, Heritage Canada, and other externally funded projects as principal investigator at BU, she has trained, supervised and provided employment to dozens of research assistants.<\/p>\n

Dr. Marshall received the provincial William Norrie Arts and Culture Award in 2021<\/a> in recognition of her longstanding volunteer & academic work with the Chinese<\/a>, Muslim<\/a>, Filipino and Jewish<\/a> communities.<\/p>\n\"\"<\/a>\n
