Before arriving at Brandon University, Mike was a public school educator for 30\u00a0years. Most of this time was spent as a High School Math\/Science\/Computer teacher. For several years, Mike was also the ICT Leader for Boissevain School before spending 1 year as Vice-Principal and 3 as Principal. During this 30 years, Mike was active serving on many Manitoba Teachers Society and Manitoba Education Committees, including the COSL representative to the K-12 Math Steering Committee. Mike also served in many positions for the Turtle Mountain Teachers Association, including 2 years as President. He was also active in delivering workshops on a variety of topics, particularly in educational technology.<\/p>\n<p>Mike obtained his undergraduate and M.Ed. degrees at Brandon University and his Ph.D. in education\u00a0at the University of Manitoba.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Areas of Interest<\/h3>\n<p>Mike\u2019s current research interests are in the broad area of educational technology, in particular social learning and the role of social media.\u00a0He\u00a0also has an interest in the areas of professional learning communities, and transformative educational change.<\/p>\n<p>He is\u00a0currently exploring, learning about and using online social media. Mike\u2019s digital presence consists of several blogs and other social sites.
