Action Research

COURSE BACKGROUND
Action Research is an inquiry process focused on improving professional knowledge and expertise. Applied to education, Action Research is frequently used to examine personal practice to create theories that help determine and perfect effective educational practices. The major assignment for the course will be the completion of an Action Research project. This online course will meet bi-weekly over the Fall and Winter terms.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

  • Analyze examples of action research and synthesize the characteristics of good action research.
  • Identify a pedagogical inquiry that may be explored through an Action Research methodology.
  • Design and implement an ethical action research project related to the selected topic.
  • Conduct a literature search to collect background information data on your selected topic.
  • Collect and code field notes.
  • Produce and present a report on your action research.
