Professionally, Ms Karpa is a Registered Psychiatric Nurse with a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. Ms Karpa’s extensive clinical experience lies in the fields of Child and Adolescent Mental Health and as a Private Practice Mental Health Clinician. Currently, Ms Karpa is an academic member with the School of Health Studies Winnipeg Campus. Research interests include; the concept of Ambiguous Loss as it pertains to families who have a member with an Acquired Brain Injury, and working with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Manitoba in the development of Competencies of Practice. In June of 2007, Ms Karpa presented on the topic of Ambiguous Loss at the International Family Nursing in Bangkok Thailand.
