Other Interests: My husband and I are building an earth-sheltered home, similar in design to an Earthship. The build started in Summer 2015 and will mark the second such home in Manitoba. Progress updates will be posted here and at the Manitoba Earthship Project facebook group. If you are interested in volunteering between April and October (even just weekends or for a week or two), please email me. Summer 2015 was spent doing some excavation work and getting concrete footers poured; summer 2016 was spent pounding earth into tires, and summer 2017 was spent pouring the concrete bond beam and buttresses and doing the framing for the south-facing wall and for the roof. Summer 2018 will be spent putting on the metal roofing, insulating the ceiling, and pouring the concrete floor 🙂
